Pretzel Caramel Bark

Okay, it's official, I am addicted to baking. I seriously cannot stop baking things. I spent this weekend baking Nutella cups, chocolate peppermint Andes cookies, brownies and this delicious pretzel caramel bark. This bark is great and tasty, a perfect treat to bring to any holiday party.

Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
pretzels
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
sea salt to taste

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Line a 15x10-inch jelly roll pan or a 9x13-inch brownie pan with foil and spray with non-stick spray. Lay a flat layer of pretzels out on the foil.
2. Melt the sugar and butter until a boil is reached. Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5-6 minutes or until mixture is thickened and sugar is completely dissolved. Pour this mixture over the pretzels and spread to coat evenly. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the caramel becomes bubbly.
3. After removing the pan from the oven, let it sit for 3-5 minutes. Sprinkle on the chocolate chips, let them soften and melt and then spread and/or swirl them into an even layer, at this point you could sprinkle sea salt on top or anything else for that matter ie nuts, cracker crumbs, Oreo pieces.
4. Let it cool and refrigerate until hardened. Break into pieces the size of your choice.  I find that freezing the pieces an hour before serving yields the best results so that the chocolate and/or caramel is harder rather than softer. Serve and enjoy!
