I don't recall how I came up with this idea but for some reason I had it in my mind that I had to make this burger, a burger patty spanakopita style with feta and spinach. This burger turned out wonderfully, it seriously was so delicious and I honestly am proud of myself for coming up with this awesome recipe. Seriously if you like spanakopita then you must give this burger a try...immediately.
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef or ground turkey (to make 4 1/2lb. burgers)
1 egg
2 cups Spinach leaves
1 cup feta
1 tbsp onion powder
olive oil
4 buns
hummus as the main condiment
burger toppings: red onions, lettuce, tomato, etc.
Directions:
1. Place the ground beef in a large metal or glass bowl. Add the egg to the ground beef. Using your hands, combine the egg to the ground beef, to fully incorporate the egg all over.
2. In a food processor or magic bullet, combine the spinach, feta, onion powder, and olive oil. Mix on high so as to turn the ingredients into a paste. Add paste to ground beef and completely mix in. Make sure that paste is equally spread throughout the beef.
3. Line a dish with wax paper. Form 4 patties and place on the wax paper. Refrigerate until ready to cook.
4. Warm up grill, once grill is ready, cook patties to desired doneness. Remove from heat and serve immediately. Toast buns on grill, remove. Spread hummus on bun, add the patty, and top with burger toppings. Enjoy!
