After our return from our trip, we had our families over to show them our pictures and to go over our trip with them. Since it was a large group, I decided to make something simple yet bountiful. I also like this recipe because besides the marinara sauce if you make it from scratch, it is relatively easily made in a crock pot.
Ingredients:
Serving size: 12 sandwiches
32 ounces of pasta sauce of your choice (store bought or homemade)
40-50 meatballs, frozen (Costco has some great frozen Italian meatballs) or homemade
Mozzarella cheese, sliced (about 36 slices)
Hoagie rolls (about a dozen)
Directions:
1. Pour the sauce and meatballs into your crock pot. Heat on LOW for 5 hours or HIGH for 3 hours.
2. Toast the hoagie rolls so as to prevent the bread from getting soggy.
3. Open the toasted hoagie and place mozzarella cheese on one side (about 3 slices per sandwich) and then top with the meatballs and sauce, about 4 meatballs per sandwich. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
